About Us

IPAN is India's leading public affairs and public relations consulting firm. Founded in 1988, IPAN continues to serve some of the finest organizations in the world including Commerce One, Hindustan Lever Ltd, Goldman Sachs, Glaxo SmithKline, Swatch Group, Special Olympics, Pramati Technologies and the HCL Group. IPAN has offices in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Bangalore, and representation in 20 other major Indian cities, with a combined reach of over 100 towns and cities.

Since its inception, IPAN has charted not just its own growth but the growth of the entire PR industry. The first professional PR agency to be set up in the country, IPAN has been constantly innovating and has been the force behind PR being used as a strategic tool by corporates and organisations to achieve their strategic goals. The first change IPAN brought about in the PR consulting business was to make it an information based approach from one of contact led. To back this approach and arm our professionals as well as clients, IPAN was the first to set up a comprehensive back end research centre, The Resource Centre (TRC).

TRC manages IPANDOC, which is the most comprehensive media monitoring system in the country today. We monitor over 500 publications across the country in over 15 different languages and across 40 different sectors. All of these media reports are cut, clipped, scanned and stored in an IT-based storage and retrieval system, hence enabling our client’s access at the press of a button. The media reports reach our clients by 9: 30 am every morning in their mailboxes. Additionally, TRC also monitors public reports, annual reports, parliament questions and answers relevant to the client’s industry.

The most recent example of our innovation in the PR industry is the setting up of Businesswire India. Businesswire India (BWI) is India's definitive platform for corporate news and financial information dissemination in full text and in real time, across India and the globe. BWI is an associate of the U.S. based Business Wire, the global leader in corporate news distribution.

BWI news distribution services are used by some of the top Indian and multi-national corporations like Infosys, Wipro, Aditya Birla Group, Reliance Infocomm, UNICEF, HSBC, ICICI Bank, European Union and the Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL). BWI provides real-time news feeds to leading newswires including UNI and IANS; news and information portals including Hindustantimes.com, Yahoo India, MSN India, Rediff, Sify; financial newswires and portals including BSEindia.com, Bloomberg, MyIris, Outlookmoney and industry portals including ZDNetIndia, Retailyatra, and showbizindia. In addition to this, it sends news releases on a real-time basis to its own online community of over 4000 journalists and investors across India, in a targeted manner.

IPAN has also been at the forefront of introducing new services in the PR industry domain. Be it the setting up of crisis communications counsel, marketing communications or public affairs, IPAN has always been the first to introduce them as a distinct offering. Further, each of these services is backed by a considerable body of successful case studies over the last 17 years.

IPAN is also the only agency in the country which has developed its own media measurement tool, titled ‘INCHE’. The methodology comprises both qualitative and quantitative analysis of the media reports generated and a value ascribed, basis a statistical method. It has been widely adopted by IPAN clients to determine the ROI for their PR programmes.

IPAN helps clients in developing effective corporate communication strategies in the context of the clients’ business objectives and larger economic trends. In the post-liberalization era, IPAN has been at the cutting edge of almost all major business developments in India--be it the entry of Pepsi in the face of a concerted campaign to keep it out; the launch of Citibank’s consumer banking business in what was then a highly regulated environment; the revolution in information technology spearheaded by companies such as Microsoft, Intel, Cisco Systems, and the home-grown HCL group; or the burgeoning cellular telephony business with its leading lights such as Escotel, Nokia, BPL Mobile and Spice Telecom. We have also worked on the opening up of the power sector to foreign companies. We have been involved in the dramatic growth of the automobile industry via Fiat, Delphi and Ford.

While IPAN’s approach to PR is information-driven, rather than contact led, we also believe in fostering and nurturing relationships. Relationships with clients, staff and business associates. That is the secret of our continued growth over the years and our ability to consistently deliver value to our clients.
